MIA announces packed programme during National Motorsport Week 2015

The motorsport industry is gearing up for a dynamic week of UK activity which will raise the profile of motorsport and showcase what it has to offer. The Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) has revealed a calendar of events taking place in June and July 2015 to celebrate the sector, which will see more than half a million people watch live motorsport events over just seven days.
National Motorsport Week, a special celebration of UK motorsport jointly promoted by the MIA and the Motor Sports Association (MSA), takes place from June 27 – July 5 with a series of exciting events. This includes the prestigious MIA Summer Reception at the House of Lords on June 30, which will feature the presentation of the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Motorsport. Also during the week, Arden Motorsport is opening its doors for factory tours, Cranfield University is hosting motorsport simulation sessions, Ginetta is offering a VIP fan experience, and this is just a small selection of the events on offer.
Returning to live action, the first ever UK Formula E race will be held at Battersea Park on June 26, while the world-renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place from June 25-28. The inaugural MIA Motorsport Business Day will be held at the British Formula One Grand Prix, Silverstone, on July 3, with the subsequent race weekend concluding National Motorsport Week. A large number of amateur motorsport events will also take place throughout the period.
Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA, said: “This summer really showcases the success of our world-leading UK motorsport industry. A packed programme of events during National Motorsport Week creates exciting opportunities for the businesses in the motorsport supply chain to highlight their offer and welcome new fans to the sport.
“The MIA is also thrilled to be hosting our first official Business Day at the Silverstone Grand Prix and, with British driver Lewis Hamilton leading the championship, all eyes will be on UK motorsport. With more than half a million people watching live motorsport events over the course of the week, we’ll outshine even Wimbledon fortnight which sees the same number of spectators over a two week period.”
Aylett continued: “Practice Day on Friday before the Formula One British Grand Prix has always been the preferred day for business and industry visitors to enjoy this great event – no crowds, no traffic, good car parks and a friendly atmosphere for business. The Business Day at the British Grand Prix will see representatives from all industries network at the premier race in UK motorsport.”
