MIA opens doors to motorsport industry for NMW

UK to welcome 500,000 motorsport fans to live events during National Motorsport Week 2015More than 500,000 spectators will attend live motorsport events in the UK between June 25 and July 5, 2015. With Goodwood Festival of Speed (June 25-28), Formula E at Battersea Park (June 26), the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone (July 3-5) and a whole host of amateur events as part of National Motorsport Week (June 27 – July 5), motorsport audiences in the UK will outweigh the numbers attending Wimbledon fortnight.
Chris Aylett, CEO of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA), said: “We’re in for a real treat in the UK, with so many world class motorsport events. Whether it’s the hybrid engines and tyre strategies in Formula 1, the silent electric power in Formula E or the thunder of the supercars and bikes making their way up the famous Goodwood hill, there is plenty of motorsport for everyone to enjoy.
“But, it isn’t just about what happens on the track. To bring these events together, thousands of people are involved in the wider motorsport supply chain. Providing catering, logistics and insurance, developing the technologies and advanced materials which create winning cars, the UK is home to unrivalled expertise which just isn’t found anywhere else in the world.”
As a flavour of some of the events taking place, Arden Motorsport is opening its doors for factory tours, Cranfield University is hosting motorsport simulation sessions and Ginetta is offering a VIP fan experience. The BTCC, Super Bikes, Drag Racing and Classic Cars are all out in force during the week, giving everyone the opportunity to touch the sport in every category. #GetInvolved
